Loco, Changkat Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Anyone who has lived / spent time in Kuala Lumpur should be able to tell you that Changkat Butkit Bintang, or simply Changkat, as it is commonly known, is essentially the de facto area of night time entertainment in the city.

Along with its many bars and clubs, Changkat has plenty of food options on offer too.

This evening we decided to go to Loco, a Mexican bar / restaurant, and having been to Loco a few times before, we knew what to order; I went for the 'wet' burrito with chicken, Erin went for the chicken Fajitas.

The Burrito cost RM30 (approx $10).

Nothing really fancy about this burrito but it was big, chunky and filled with chicken, rice and other grilled goodness. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the sour cream liberally zig-zagged across the top - I don't really see when this kind of behaviour ever really has a place on the dinner table...

Overall - Pub food but decent pub food - 3 / 5

The chicken fajitas at Loco are comparatively expensive at RM38 (approx $12) next to the other dishes on offer.

They arrive sizzling on the plate and have a good chicken-to-veggies ratio. One of the things I liked about these fajitas was the crispy effect found on the outer coating of the chicken and the onions / peppers, and created by the skillet they are served in.

Fajitas are the kind of meal that are hard to mess up. They are nearly always good, rarely great but almost never bad.

Overall - Good fajitas (but are they ever fantastic?)  3.5 / 5

I've eaten in a few Tex-Mex establishments in KL, and Loco does better than most. It's a nice place to have a drink, and the Mexican fare soundly beats the usual pub offerings found on the street outside.
